Success of the CyberBully Hotline at your school or district hinges on a well planned and thorough implementation.

We suggest reviewing all the sections of our Resource Center. Here you will learn:

As you begin to implement the CyberBully Hotline, keep in mind that the target audience is both the bullied (the victim) and the bystanders. Both victims and bystanders often fail to report bullying for these reasons:

  • Fear of retaliation
  • Fear that they will be labeled a "rat"
  • Fear that they will lose power, or be ostracized from their friends
  • They often don't recognize subtle bullying
  • They feel ashamed, afraid and powerless
  • And more often than not, because they simply feel nothing will get done about it

The CyberBully Hotline is designed to create a path of least resistance for reporting. Taking the fear out of the equation for approaching an adult or authority figure, the CyberBully Hotline enables a bullied student or bystander to make an anonymous report and begin the communication process. How you promote these concepts and respond to messages from your students will be critical to the hotline's success.
